Advanced foregut, bariatric, hernia, colorectal, and general surgery care
Savannah River Advanced Surgery offers advanced minimally invasive, robotic, and open surgical care for patients across Augusta, Aiken, and the surrounding region.
Dr. Jay Jorge treats a wide range of foregut, abdominal wall, bariatric, colorectal, and general surgical conditions with an emphasis on thoughtful evaluation, clear communication, and the right operation for the right patient.
What We Offer
At Savannah River Advanced Surgery, patients receive individualized surgical care based on diagnosis, symptoms, anatomy, prior operations, and overall goals. Dr. Jay Jorge performs minimally invasive, robotic, and open procedures, selecting the approach that best fits the patient rather than forcing every case into one platform.
-
For patients with significant reflux symptoms, anatomic hiatal defects, or recurrent reflux issues, surgical options may be considered after appropriate evaluation. Care is tailored to symptom pattern, testing, anatomy, and prior treatment history.
Diaphragmatic hernias
Paraesophageal hernias
Hiatal hernias
-
Comprehensive care for abdominal wall hernias, including:
Ventral hernias
Incisional hernias
Recurrent hernias
Complex abdominal wall defects
Select inguinal hernia cases
-
Surgical care for obesity and related conditions, including bariatric evaluation, operative treatment, and selected revisional procedures when appropriate. This is supported by Dr. Jorge’s fellowship training in bariatric surgery and extensive experience with building multiple bariatric surgery programs.
-
Many procedures can be performed using minimally invasive or robotic techniques, which may help reduce pain, shorten recovery, and limit incision size in appropriate patients. Not every operation is best done robotically, and surgical approach is chosen based on safety, complexity, and expected outcome.
-
Savannah River Advanced Surgery also provides a broad range of general surgical and colorectal care, including abdominal procedures and other common surgical conditions requiring expert evaluation and management.
What patients can expect
Patients can expect a thorough consultation, discussion of nonoperative and operative options, a clear explanation of risks and benefits, and a treatment plan tailored to their condition and goals. For patients who need surgery, care includes preoperative preparation, operative treatment, and postoperative follow-up with continued communication throughout the process.
Request a consultation
If you have been diagnosed with a hernia, reflux disease, gallbladder problem, obesity-related surgical issue, or another general surgical condition, Savannah River Advanced Surgery welcomes consultation requests. Referring physicians are also welcome to send patients for evaluation of complex foregut, hernia, bariatric, colorectal, and general surgical cases.
