Savannah River Advanced Surgery welcomes referrals from primary care physicians, gastroenterologists, and specialists throughout the Augusta–Aiken region. Dr. Jay Jorge is a double board-certified surgeon (general surgery and obesity medicine), fellowship-trained in bariatric surgery, with a clinical practice spanning bariatric and revisional surgery, foregut and anti-reflux procedures, complex abdominal wall reconstruction — including hernia repair — and general surgery.

Conditions we commonly accept
Foregut and esophageal. GERD refractory to medical therapy, hiatal and paraesophageal hernia, achalasia, Barrett's esophagus surgical evaluation, gastroparesis, esophageal and gastric masses.
Revisional and bariatric. Sleeve-to-bypass conversion, band removal and revision, weight recurrence after prior bariatric surgery, chronic marginal ulcer, stricture, internal hernia, and other post-bariatric complications. Primary sleeve gastrectomy and Roux-en-Y gastric bypass.
Abdominal wall. Inguinal, umbilical, incisional, and recurrent hernia; complex ventral hernia and loss of abdominal domain; mesh complications; component separation and robotic repair.
General and colorectal. Gallbladder disease, appendicitis, diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopy, colon resection, small bowel obstruction, soft tissue masses, and other general surgical conditions.
Where Dr. Jorge operates
Dr. Jorge maintains surgical privileges at Piedmont Augusta, where he performs foregut, revisional bariatric, and complex abdominal wall surgery, and he participates in bariatric call coverage. He also is credentialed at Aiken Regional Medical Center and Augusta Surgery Center, where he performs general surgery and endoscopies.
